基本情况
现任塔里木大学西域文化研究院院长，兼任兵团一师阿拉尔市副市长，分管文化、旅游及其产业。研究领域为中国历史与边疆史地，主要研究方向是，边疆史地、西域历史、丝路遗产、屯垦经济等，是塔里木大学、石河子大学与新疆大学的研究生导师。
在西域丝路研究领域，先后主持了国家科技支撑计划项目、国家软科学研究项目、国家民委项目、教育部、自治区、兵团、台湾法鼓山国际横向合作课题等各级课题10余项，科研经费1000多万元，其中国家科技支撑项目“环塔里木非遗文化旅游系统构建与应用”具有代表性，较好体现了“人文+科技”的协同创新。
在教书育人、学术研究、学科建设、科研平台建设中能身先士卒，也注重理论联系实际，已在国内外重要杂志上发表论文40余篇，研究报告多次被重要部门采纳，出版了《艺术审美的神韵》、《笔耕大漠忆吹箫》、《西域历代文学作品选注》、《西域重大史实图鉴》、《西域战略纵深与文化戍边愿景》、《千年回首望昆仑》等系列专著10余部,又以《西域战略纵深与文化戍边愿景》最为重要。
